This is the Way to the Moon is a delightful, genuinely retro, children s book featuring charming illustrations Originally published in 1963, with the Space Race forefront in everyone s minds, This is the Way to the Moon has been re released in a facsimile edition Minor additions to the original text elaborate on the lunar landings and NASA s space program Miroslav Sasek s books are delightful We have several in the collection and enjoy looking through them, absorbing the details of the illustrations, and reading the playful text While This is the Way to the Moon is not the most current text on space travel, it is likely the most amusing currently in circulation We love the details of Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, the people in 60 s clothing, and the retro color scheme Beautiful book.

Confusing layout and overall ease of reading is also very difficult I had gotten it to read it to my 5 year olds as they were very interested about the moon but it turned out to be a big disappointment Opt for something else.

sasek s books are all visually lovely, no doubt about it, however they are also incredibly informative, which i quite appreciate this book is littered with amazing images and interesting facts i would definitely say this entry has some of the stylized images present in sasek s books it made me yearn to go back in time, if only to see the country at that time.and as with all the updated printings of sasek s books, there is a welcome list of this is the space programtoday at the end of the book with changes listed since the original printing it is great to see both the way the program WAS as well as the present day differences.i highly recommend this book if you are interested in either the space program, or simply in wonderful illustration.
