For someone who has read all the other wonderful books in this series i could not grasp the sudden extreme excess of tragedy and the breakdown of the previous rock solid relationship between Tony and Carol it felt like the slow burn progress of their relationship was ignored. Also I have a prosthesis and found the first attack completely unrealistic not that I go about throwing my prosthesis around. Their police team is being wound up by unsympathetic seniors and then a former serial killer who they put away escapes to create carnage on their lives The bleakest book of this series Compelling as ever. What a fabulous writer Val McDermid is, I am loving these stories about the cases and their lives of Tony Hill and Carol Jordan She leads up to some real thrilling writing which holds you so you don t want to put the book down.brilliant Another brilliant read by Val McDermid, I was not disappointed in this, the next book in her long line of the Tony Hill and Carol Jordan series I truly recommend these to everyone. I enjoyed finding out what happened to the character Jacko vance.the book was a little bland than most of the jordan hill books.very few surprises It no wonder that TV adapted this series What tremendous plots, believable characters and gruesomely clever storylines This is my first chance at reading them and I can t get enough. One back story to this book is the falling out between Tony and Carol She blames him for a personal tragedy because he didn t predict a rather unusual crime committed by someone they d put in prison a few years ago OK, she s upset and is looking for someone to blame, but any reasonable person would blame the criminal, not Tony This is bad enough, but what is really impossible to swallow is that Tony seems to accept the blame Totally intangible Spoiled the book for me. Good story but unfortunately the copy I received was missing 100 pages I just thought the story was being continued in the next book and read that before I realised what was wrong Very annoying. Brilliant sensational unforgettable GuardianThe queen of crime is still at the top of her game IndependentThere is one serial killer who has shaped and defined police profiler Tony Hills life One serial killer whose evil surpasses all others One serial killer who has the power to chill him to the bone Jacko VanceAnd now Jacko is back in Tonys life Even twisted and cunning than ever before, he is focused on wreaking revenge on Tony and DCI Carol Jordan for the years he has spent in prisonTony doesnt know when Jacko will strike, or where All he knows is that Jacko will cause him to feel fear like he has never known before and devastate his life in ways he cannot imagineThe Queen of Crime returns with the unforgettably gripping seventh book in the Tony Hill and Carol Jordan seriesDont miss the electrifying new Tony Hill Carol Jordan thriller HOW THE DEAD SPEAK is out nowPraise for Queen of Crime Val McDermidIt grabs the reader by the throat and never lets go Daily Mail So gripping it puts your life on hold The Times As good a psychological thriller as it is possible to get Sunday Express One of todays most accomplished crime writers Literary Review McDermid remains unrivalled Observer The seventh book in the Tony Hill and Carol Jordan series, from Nobestselling author Val McDermid McDermid does every thing except put your fingers in the light socket, twist and turns, one of the best authors I have come across don t miss the followup.
