Nick Hornby nunca decepciona

Nick Horby at his best Very hilarious situations of a couple who are going to therapy.

An interesting concept of ten conversations between a couple around their marriage therapy sessions delivered in a trivial manner Reading a Nick Hornby novel these days is like watching a re run of a nineties sit com There is something inviting about going back to a place where you remember feeling soothed and comfortable but ultimately the world has moved on and you want something challenging Hornby s work has always achieved literary kudos for reasons which have always escaped me It s always well written but it never really makes me feel anything beyond the surface An easy read that doesn t really go anywhere for me.

Very big Nick Hornby fan here. This is a very small book It can be read in 90 minutes or less A couple has some problems and go to marital counseling We never see them in counseling, just their conversation in a bar where they meet before the ten sessions. Some of the dialogue is good, some of it not so much They do hit upon a few issues that are fairly universal to couples There is a great bit on Brexit.

Too short for a novel, like a script for a TV series Great one liners, wonderful dialogs You are ton in 90 min from first to last page.

  12. says:

I loved it, but I find you either like Nick s style and sense of humor, or you don t.

  13. says:

We see the couple as they arrive and wait for their marital therapy Original, perceptive and witty.

It feels like reading a play If you re a fan of Hornby s banter, you ll enjoy the book But it is a very quick read one night If you re looking to really sink your teeth into a book, keep looking.
