This book was an easy read and gave me a much better sense of our fifth President than I had before A lot of wrong dates jumped out of me, not because I knew the right dates going in, but because they didn t make sense For example, Monroe was born in 1758, but in Chapter 3, he is said to have been married in 1776 he would be 18 to Elizabeth, who was said to be age 17 and nine years his junior The wedding was actually in 1786 and she was 17, but ten years 2 mos his junior First daughter Eliza was said to be born in December 1776 should be 1786 Then, first son, James, was said to be born two years later But he was actually born apparently in 1799, thirteen years later Next, third child Marie s birth year is given as 1804, but was actually apparently April 8, 1802 These were all in Chapter 3 Later, in Chapter 13, Madison s sic coffin was exhumed in 1858 I confirmed that Monroe s coffin was exhumed that year, and Madison was not part of the narrative at that point in the book With these easy to spot errors, I wonder what other s are in also the book I suggest that the author reread the book and correct these and possibly other typos Aside from the typos, and my resulting uncertainty as to other facts because of the typos, I enjoyed the book and got out of it just what I was hoping for.
