This is a very enjoyable, nicely put together book, full of wonderful photo selections illustrating a variety of Berlin landmarks For either the tourist or the armchair tourist, it is informative and useful If you like Berlin, you ll like this book Not an in depth study on the city s history or anything like that, but a fine tome to look through. Hitler S Ascendancy And Defeat Transformed A Stable, Confident Berlin Into A Ruined City, Fractured By Post WWII Political Divisions Only With The Destruction Of The Wall And The Subsequent Unification Treaty Did Berlin Begin To Regain Its Cosmopolitan Standing As One Of The World S Great Cities Experience The Tumultuous Events Of The City S Modern History Through Archival And Contemporary Photography That Offers A Rare Glimpse Of Berlin S Fascinating Metamorphosis Its ok I was born and raised in Berlin and some of the pics are good I would have preferred a side by side of then and now I purchased this book prior to spending a week in Berlin I read through it on the train on the way to Berlin from Frankfurt and found that in contained great photography and solid background information on major landmarks This book is not an in depth history of Berlin, but if you d like to take a look at how things WERE compared to how they ARE and have the major sites explained in plain English, this book works well It s a must have if you re traveling to the area, but makes a good coffee table book now as well. A great sofa table book that presents the city as it once existed how it appears today The seller provided in record time in excellent condition. I bought this book prior to visiting Germany After my visit I enjoyed it even as I could look through and remember the places that I visited and how breathtaking they were.My trip was wonderful to Germany and this book is a favorite of mine now.
